The presence of these maps, and what they contain, relates a great deal about the origins of the Goetia and its intended uses. In this incident, we will be referring to a famous 16th Century wizard's handbook known as The Book of Oberon.Īmong the curious pictograms that comprise the 72 seals, there are several maps. On some rare occasions, I've stepped slightly off that path to explore related occult works, usually with other people who have taken to those works in a way that compares to how I approach Goetia. I've been fairly consistent, since the late 1990s, about sticking to the Lemegeton and its several formulae for conjuring spirits Celestial, Terrestrial, and Infernal. I have a rare honor in being able to conduct these ceremonies, communicate directly with the spirits, and see results of the kind that impress me. This journal has never been a "safe and sane" kind of record. Everyone who works with magic for a long time will have a number of experiences that defy "ordinary" reality in some way, and these are expected but some things are just so strange that even the most hardened wizards fear ridicule for daring to speak of them. At some point in the career of every practicing occultist, there will be some conjuration whose results are so extreme and bizarre as to make the conjuror unwilling to discuss it even in private whispers.
